The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) on May 12, 2026, issued the Draft Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (Multi Year Tariff for Distribution) Regulations, 2026.
These Regulations shall supersede the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (Terms and Conditions for Determination of Tariff) Regulations, 2005 and amendments thereto, and the TNERC (Terms and Conditions for Determination of Tariff for Intra-State Transmission / Distribution of Electricity under Multi Year Tariff Framework) Regulations, 2009 and amendments thereto, insofar as they relate to the determination of tariff for Distribution Licensees.
These Regulations shall extend to the whole of State of Tamil Nadu. These Regulations shall be applicable to all existing and future Distribution Licensees and their successors, if any, for determination of Aggregate Revenue Requirement Tariff, True-up and related matters covered under these Regulations from FY 2027-28 to FY 2031-32, unless otherwise reviewed/extended.
These Regulations shall come into effect from the date of their publication in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, and shall remain in force till March 31, 2032, unless otherwise reviewed/extended: Provided that for all purposes, including review matters pertaining to the period till March 31, 2027, the issues relating to determination of Aggregate Revenue Requirement and Tariff shall be governed by the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (Terms and Conditions for the determination of Tariff) Regulations, 2005, or TNERC (Terms and Conditions for Determination of Tariff for Intra state Transmission / Distribution of Electricity under MYT Framework) Regulations, 2009, including amendments thereto, as may be applicable.
Notice is hereby given that the draft Regulations, will be taken into consideration after the expiry of 15 days from the date of publication of this notification in the TNERC website and that any objection and suggestion, which may be received from any person before the expiry of the aforesaid period, will be considered by the Commission.
